A NOTE FROM SUSAN & CATHY

RNS Families,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our families at Ravinia Nursery School, for trusting us with the care and education of your children! We delight In their curiosity and wonder each and every day, and feel privileged to be a part of their growth and learning during these very special years. As we near the end of 2024, we find ourselves reflecting upon this past fall, feeling gratitude for the many blessings in our lives, including the kindness and generosity of our parents and the joy that your children bring every day. We appreciate your participation in, and contributions to, this little blue school more than you know. In addition, we want to thank families that have graciously donated new books to the RNS library! For a list of these new additions, click HERE.

Priority Registration for current and alumni families will close on January 6th, when registration for new families will open. We are excited to welcome so many of you back again next fall! We wish you all health and happiness during the winter break and a bright and prosperous New Year!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Family Focus Holiday Gift and Winter Clothing Drive-Thank you Meagan Pheil for all of your hard work and coordination of such a valuable community service!

And thank you RNS Families for your generosity! Because of all of you, 44 local children will be able to open gifts during the holidays! That's around 125 gifts!! The coordinators at Family Focus could not stop thanking us every time we arrived with more gifts. They commented many times..."we are just so amazed and grateful for the very generous Ravinia Nursery School Family!" Thank you for making a difference in our community during this holiday season!

RNS Holiday Market- Thank you Abigail Goldberg and Hilary Shapiro for making this year's Holiday Market so magical! Children filled their shopping bags with goodies for loved ones and their adults brought home sweets to share! Thank you to the bakers and all who attended this special seasonal fundraiser for RNS.

Save the Date - RNS Pajama Jam

You're invited to our coziest fundraiser yet! Get ready to party in your PJs at this year's Spring Event, the RNS Pajama Jam! Join us on March 15, 2025 at Atelier (1900 Sheridan Road). The festivities kick off at 7:30pm and will include a variety of slumber party activities and takeout favorites. Dress to impress or dress to destress, but either way, come through with your jammies on!

Don't be a stranger! RNS Alum Lucy Paez flew her family a long way to visit us back at the little blue school! Lucy and family (Cat, Daniel and Amber) moved to Australia in 2022 while she was in C Class and remains pen pals with many of her RNS peers! We love when families come back to visit!

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

2025-2026 school year registration is underway via Membership Toolkit. We look forward to welcoming your family back next year! Registration for prospective families begins January 6th so please ensure that you register your child(ren) before that time. Summer camp registration is also live via Membership Toolkit! Please see all details regarding programming here.
We have several openings remaining for Monday Lunch Bunch (mixed age)! Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are currently at capacity.

Mabel, C Class- (Maggie shared that she is going to Mexico during the winter break.) "My cousin is going to Mexico too! Look for the gray car with wipers!"

GETTING TO KNOW RNS STAFF

Barby, Two Cans- Playing Codenames with family or friends on the couch in front of the fireplace

Carrie, Two Cans- I love to play games, listen to music and have a fire with my family. Comfy and cozy :)

Dana, Two Cans- My favorite indoor activity to do is read and bake.

Debbie, Two Cans- My indoor activity for cold weather would be going to the Museum of Science and Industry

Jennifer, Two Cans- Garfield Conservatory

Alison, A Class- Reading or watching football

Barbra, A Class- Clean and organize my closets

Lisa, A Class- Playing Code Names and puzzling

Cathy- Playing card games with my family.

Elizabeth, B/D Class- Favorite indoor activities are puzzles and baking.

Rachael, B Class- doing a puzzle while chatting with family or playing Scattegories

Susan, B Class- Puzzling, Music and a Mexican Mule

Maggie, C Class- Drinking hot chocolate, puzzle, in front of the fireplace with my family

Nancy, C Class- My family’s favorite activity over the winter is going to the book store or library and picking up a book for everyone! We love to make cookies, light a fire and read our new books for a cozy afternoon indoors.

Shannon, C Class- We like to build a cozy fire, and either work a large puzzle together or play a game as a family. Our current favorite family game is Mah Jongg!

Jaclyn, D Class- Baking chocolate chip banana bread with my kids!

Karyn, D Class- I love getting in comfy clothes, sitting in a comfy chair with a comfy blanket and reading a good book!
